Kites of Solidarity is an initiative of Meeting Points which aimed to bring together children and youth of different backgrounds with one goal in mind – making kites with beautiful messages of solidarity and togetherness. The event ran as part of the 2019 Refugee month with over 30 children and several adults (or should we say children alike?!) present.
The workshop was led by Bhushan Trivedi – an Indian social entrepreneur, whose love for kites and kite flying was evident throughout the event. Bhushan masterfully showed everyone present not only how to craft their own kite, but also how to work together as a team in order to reach mutual goals.
The event concluded with a delicious lunch and, of course, kite flying on Muzeiko’s beautiful lawn where children of refugee background and others, deprived of family or parental care came together to fly their kites, reaching speeds they never knew they could reach.
